This CD has two parts: first a Cavern rehearsal in 1962 (tracks 1-5) and second, It's The Beatles (7 dec 1963) at the Empire Pool Theatre (tracks 6-16).

These last tracks are presented as "The Beatles '63 Xmas Show". No tape of any of these '63 Xmas shows is available (for now ?).

More news about the '63 Xmas Shows:

This is the concert-form only of a Beatles Christmas Show conceived by Brian Epstein. It included elaborated costumes and inelaborated sketches as well as Beatles numbers.
Two concert-only previews were performed: one on 21 Dec 1963 and the other on 22 Dec 1963 (this album focuses on the second show).
The show was settled in at the Astoria for a 16 night run, two "houses" each (except for 24 and 31 Dec when there was only one). There were no shows at all on 25, 29 Dec and on 5 Jan.
The last show was performed on 11 Jan 1964.
One hundred thousand tickets for the 30 shows went on sale on 21 october. By 16 november, they were all sold.
The show was a success.

The Cavern Club rehearsals, which are listed as September 1962 on the CD cover, are AWESOME. The sound quality is surprisingly good, with a slight drop-out in "I Saw Her Standing There" for a few seconds in the instrumental break. The "rhythm" harmonica in "ISHST" is AMAZING! I agree that Ringo must be drumming, because there's not a single tap-tap-tap-drum roll, tap-tap-tap drum roll, which Pete Best did nearly continuously in every song during the Decca Session!

The Liverpool concert is pretty good quality but was taken from a rather "poppy" record rather than from a tape. The same concert appears on the "Youngblood" bootle LP, and is probably the source for this CD.

A 12-page booklet full of photos of The Beatles in 1961-1962 is included, with two color photos of John and Paul (in Hamburg) on the cover. I'll send you a scan, since you don't have one.

By the way, the cover has a (c) date of 1990.

Album, which I want to have, but I do not know both

Excelent material. It's important to know that audio quality of such early recordings is not as important as the fact that we could have in our hands some sounds of the guys made in Liverpool. I 've been last year at the Beatles Festival in Liverpool, and since then (after touring the Empire Theatre) I just HAD to get a concert in that place. On top of that, walk 10 minutes and you'll have more from "The Cavern" rehearsals.
Yes, it's excellent. Maybe there could be another label who took the Empire show from other source (but who knows)

These Cavern rehearsals are in better quality on a later Yellow Dog disc but these are essential to still own as they are slightly longer in places, with some pre and after song chatter here that have been cut off of the YD release.

I Give It A 10 Because It`s Such A Kool Window Into The Fab Four! It`s Like An Eavesdrop In Time. Glad To Own This One And The Empire Show That Follows.
