HOW MANY ROADS MUST A MAN WALK DOWN...

Bob Dylan has walked down many roads. For most of his 22 years he "road freight trains for kicks and got beat up for laughs, cut grass for quarters and sang for dimes." And his songs today are the sounds he sopped up all those years on the road - "the coyote's call and the train whistle's moan, the ol' time pals an' first run gals, the faces you can't find again."

Bob does what a true folk singer is supposed to do - sing about the important ideas and events of the times. And he does it better than anybody else.

The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan Outtakes features seven of Bob's own compositions, including both sides of his rare debut single. Also classic interpretations of songs by icons Robert Johnson, Hank Williams, and Elvis Presley. Including four songs in stereo and additional bonus tracks featuring noteworthy alternate takes.

Hear it and you'll know why Bob Dylan is the voice of the times.

Essential. One of the best collections of outtakes of an album by ANY artist. Fine choices, generally strong sound quality and long running time add up to a must-have for any Dylan fan.

I have to agree with Allan here. This comes well up in my list of 10 most listend cds from my bootleg collection.

Vigotone! What would you expect?

One of the very best of DYLAN bootlegs. One of the most informative historical perspectives you gain, thru a study of this CD, is the impressive amount of ROCK AND ROLL that almost made it onto his second album. No doubt you have heard the song "MIXED UP CONFUSION" from the BIOGRAPHY box set. WEll, you have more of the same here. Songs that sound like they could have very easily been pulled off BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME. The songs I'm speaking of, include SOLID ROAD(rocks and gravel), THAT"S ALRIGHT MAMA, CORRINA CORRINA, and other versions of the Mixed up confusion song. So this album, was not easily formed, in any sense of the word. I mean, even when they were printing it, they withdrew it, to remove John Birch Paranoid talking blues(oddly left off this collection), and ROCK and GRAVEL. The importance of this album, as a starting point for the FOLK movement's new voice, cant be overstated. However, seeing the songs that didnt make the cut, doesnt allow you to see, the poorer side of DYLAN's genius, but rather, other paths, other views, etc, that would not have been welcome in the political climate of 1963. So, if you can come across this CD, do listen to it, study it, etc. You will gain a lot of perspectives, of DYLANS legend's birth.

I never quite got Dylan at the time... but hearing albums like this makes me realise what all the fuss was about.

I recently got this one and only 11 of the 25 songs work, wasn't able to get a fixed copy from the trader, but what I do hear up to track 11 is incredible stuff. You can already feel the presence of an original and creative person trapped in this guy's thin body. "Talkin' John Birch Paranoia Blues" is a blast to finally hear after reading about this leftover for so many years. I really appreciate the alternate cover shot which brings so much joy to my senses.

Had I owned all 25 tracks this rating would be a 10 STARer!

Sorry to say fillapillowg, but to mark down a potential 5 star rating because of a bad burn is perhaps a little unfair. Please reconsider.
