Review by: Claude Defer, cdefer@voila.frOn 16 Nov 1999 at 12:22 CET
With this double LP, released in the late '70s and subtitled "Two weeks in Janueary Nineteen Sixty-Nine", we gain access to several Let It Be tapes.
We find here interesting versions of "Get Back" (politicized as "No Pakistanis") and "Let It Be" as well as the Abbey Road title "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" (said to be an authentic detail).
We'll also find two interesting tracks by Paul: Domino & Penina.
At the time of its release, it was urgent to get a copy of it. Today, I don't think it's still the case.

Avec ce double LP bootleg datant de la fin des années '70 et sous-titré "Two weeks in January Nineteen Sixty-Nine", nous disposons d'une grosse livraison de bandes issues des Get Back sessions.
On y trouve des prises intéressantes de 'Get Back' (dont sa version politisée intitulée 'No Pakistanis') et de 'Let it Be'.
Le futur titre d'Abbey Road 'She Came in Through the Bathroom Window' (une anecdote authentique parait-il) est aussi abondamment présent.
On y trouve aussi 2 petites curiosités délivrées par Paul : Domino et Penina.
A l'époque où il figurait dans les bacs, il était urgent de se procurer ce type de disque. Aujourd'hui, il me semble que cela l'est moins.

My first bootleg lp back in 72. With this exact same cover. Brings back a lot of memories. Probably not everyones cup of tea, but it sure holds a lot of memories for me. I recently found a 2 cd-r set of this material called Sweet Apple Trax that was NOT taken from vinyl. Highly recommended!

Yes, I agree with zappmaca; 1972, I ordered it from a London Dealer who got bust. After reading about it in the NME I gave up. Six months later out of the blue it arrived. I was amazed then and continue to love this stuff. The raw rock 'n roll energy of a band still playing and laughing together continues to confound the idea that the apple was rotten at the core. The original seemed great quality but has been improved on by susequent issues. However nothing can replace the thrill of getting that sudden brown paper surprise in '72; the start of a long and winding(expensive)road. All hail TAKRL.

I love going back to the daze of vinyl boots! Though the Amazing Kornyphone Record Lable(TAKRL) did "Borrow this stuff from the 4 records that at the time comprised "Sweet Apple Tracks", The liner notes were always worth it. "doc sez it's all just etchings on plastic, but ya know sometimes he is very wrong indeed"

Wonderful stuff here, some of the first extensive tracks from the Let It Be sessions.

I agree with the others, this was one of the first TAKRL releases way back in 1972.

I obtained my copy in 1974 from an old long gone record store in Toronto.

Was later copied onto Sweet Apple Trax and finally onto CD's in the late 1980's as: The Black Album (in better quality).

It has been released in far better sound fidelity in recent years on CD's, but this is still wonderful stuff.

Rehersals for the Get Back project, all of these tracks were recorded during the first two weeks of January 1969 at Twickenham film studios, before moving proper to Abbey Road studios for the last two weeks of formal recording.

Great stuff here.

This two record set is a classic boot from the golden era of bootlegging.

Highly recommended for historic purposes.

Quite rare to find originals today.

RIP: John+George

I picked this stuff up in Wildwood NJ at a head shop mid 70s on a dbl album set called "Sweet Apple Trax" on Newsound records. The sound Quality was very good mono and has the same line up. This lp was a revalation to us Beatles fans and holds a place in are old hearts. To this day this is still being sold in some old record stores around Jersey and NYC. If your new to the "Get Back" sessions ,here's a great place to start and itr's alot of fun.
