First American radio broadcast of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" is introduced by Marsha Albert on disc jockey Carroll James' program on WWDC-AM in Washington. The 15-year-old Silver Spring, Maryland, fan had written the station urging them to locate and play the recording by a then-unknown English band. The station's promotion director prevailed on a BOAC flight crew member to hand-carry a copy of the single back from England nearly a month before its scheduled release date on Capitol Records in the U.S.

I don't know whether it's absolutely unique, but what a great concept! To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' first concert in the U.S.--at the Washington Coliseum on February 11, 1964--an enterprising DC-area fan has created an audio documentary of the event. The centerpiece, of course, is the concert itself, which is readily available on bootlegs. What makes this disc exciting are all the surrounding interviews, press reports, etc, some of which is pretty obscure!
