HQ Scans:
Publisher: Dr. Ebbetts
Reference :MFSL-1-047
Date :2000
Made In :USA
Quality :Ex. stereo
Booklet & packaging :Glossy cover, 4 page booklet. A reproduction of the original vinyl MFSL LP cover, complete with the original liner notes on back.
Total duration: 36:41

Comments
A reproduction on CD of the Beatles' ninth UK album, as released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs. Thermal printed legend on CD-R disc looks like a "silk screened, factory pressed" CD.
These are transferred from the vinyl releases. Only the smallest amount of noise reduction necessary has been applied.
An excellent sounding recording, when compared to the actual Mobile Fidelity releases. Very warm, clear, crisp stereo.

I got the stereo just to see how it compared to the EMI 1987 release and its pretty close but I think the Ebbetts is a little brighter and louder....
not as dynamic as his other releases due to the fact that its been released offically and its very close in sound to the EMI verson but worth getting if your a true nut, has cool packaging...

got the stereo version and I love it. It is brighter, louder and has more punch than the EMI CD.
I'm also hearing some sounds that weren't all that apparant on the original EMI CD release : the bass harmonica on The Fool On The Hill seem to shine through in this mix. Macca's bass is more defined throughout the album. Some of the higher frequency strings on I Am The Walrus come out brighter in this mix too. Puts the EMI mix to shame.....this is a joy to listen to.

Same mix as the US stereo, but reportedly a lower generation master was used.

The original 'Magical Mystery Tour' EP tracks sounds great, but the 1967 singles (tracks 7-11) are pretty much worthless on the MFSL release. Get the German HörZu LP (also "re-issued" by Dr. Ebbetts) with the genuine stereo mixes and avoid this one...

The mono versions of the 1967 singles can be found in much better quality on the Doc's 'UK Singles Collection' or the US Mono mix of this LP.

These reviews are supposed to be for the Ebbetts MFSL Magical Mystery Tour CD and not for any other version of this material.

I am giving Ebbetts a 10 for his job of reproducing this MFSL album because his disk does sound like the MFSL album. However he, and MFSL, are wrong to call this a UK Stereo LP because it is actually the US Stereo LP. One place you can tell this is in the intro to I Am The Walrus. The intro riff is repeated four times, like the US LP, not six like the UK LP. One thing that the MFSL record has in common with both the US and UK LPs is that the last three songs are in fake stereo. I wish MFSL had provided us with the German LP, which was entirely in true stereo.

Good Transfer but the German Stereo LP - HörZu transfer is by far superior !

Hey there. I've got a copy of this cd, the MMT MFSL Dr. Ebbetts, that has the true stereo mixes. Can somebody explain?

No, 'cause I've got it to. Oh well, it sounds nice and shiny. I can't wait for the Doctor to upgrade these.
