A CLASSIC PIECE GETTING THE EBBETT TOUCH! THE GLYN JOHNS 2ND MIX IS A GOOD SELECTION BUT WHETHER IT'S THE FIRST MIX OR THE SECOND ANYTHING IS BETTER THEN THE ORIGINAL SPECTOR MIX BUT THERE ARE MANY BOOTS OUT THERE AS FAR AS THIS MIX IS CONCERNED BUT NOT WITH THE EBBETT TOUCH THIS PUTS THE STRAWBERRY AS WELL AS SECRET TRAX DISCS TO SHAME. IF YOU CAN GET TO THE DOC (AND THAT COULD BE QUITE HARD) GET THIS AS WELL AS HIS OTHER TITLES THEN AND ONLY THEN CAN YOU SAY YOU HAVE THE ORIGINALS....JEFF ROSENTHAL

This is my favourite of the three Glyn Johns mixes. This should have been the official release. Best selection what, no Teddy Boy?) and order of songs, best inter-song patter - it really flows well. Dr Ebbetts gives the sound quality a special touch even by his high standards - amazing!

Definitely this is not the best sounding Ebbetts release. If compared to his "original LP" CD-versions, this one sounds hissy and little distorted in some places. I guess it's not Doctor's fault: apparently his source suffered the same problem of imperfect equalization and he could not do much to improve quality. This is claimed to be the "best" 2nd Glyn Johns's mix release, but I don't have other versions to compare with.

This is a wonderful set. I wanted to point out that the 1:21 time shown on this for "Save The Last Dance" is incorrect - it is edited on the second mix and only runs about 33 seconds. After Paul says "Save The Last Dance For Me" it cuts straight to the E chord right into "Oh Darling...Save the last dance for me." Being that I only have a cdr copy at this time, I thought it was incomplete, but I contacted Dr E on this and in his reply he stated that the edit is intentional on this mix. There are a couple non-DESS versions that as far as I can tell are homemade compilations using merely the version 1 mix and adding in the "side 2" tracks to make it seem authentic.

For me this is a good album but I prefer Let It Be because I've Got A Feeling, Two Of Us, Dig A Pony, Let It Be, I Me Mine are better in the second one.
Maybe A Good Album can be with these:
1- The One After 909 ( Get Back 2nd without the ending phrases of John) 2- Rocker - Save The Last Dance On me ( GB2nd to preserve the live istint of the project 3 - Don't Let Me Down ( Sorry, I like more the single version) 4 - Dig A Pony ( Let It Be) 5- I've Got A Feeling (LIB) 6- Let It Be (I think that Spector's mix is strongest, for me the best for this song LIB) 7- Maggie Mae (GB2nd or LIB is the same) 8- Dig It (GB2nd not memorable but not leave out another Lennon's!!) 9 - For You Blue (is the same) 10- Two Of Us (LIB!!!!) 11 - I Me Mine (LIB!!!) 12 - The Long And Winding Road (GB2nd!!!) 13- Across The Universe ( For me the best is in Anthology 2nd) 14- Get Back ( LIB for the end because we have the thanks of John on the roof) 15 - Get Back Reprise (GB2nd)

This is the best existing version of the second mix of Get Back. It's a pretty nice album, basically serving as a REAL "Let It Be... Naked". It repicates the Johns mix perfectly, even editing Save The Last Dance (the "full" version was on Mix 1).

This is not, however, the best-sounding Ebbetts release. His source suffers from the same problems as other bootlegs. It's better than the others, but not by far; the quality still gets a bit choppy and distorted in some places. Still, Ebbetts' vinyl transfers are better.

Slightly, but not too much better than the soundquality of the first mix. The best thing about it is the artwork.

Excellent, crisp and very rare album. This is the BEST mix available, and I can say that because I have all the others.

Craig: Let me have a guess. You have all the discs, right? Right! What do I win, another of your detailed, helpful "reviews"? OMG!!!!

As usual no points for Cracker-Craig's unratable "review".

this one is great..compare to the first mix i feel this one is stronger.. especially ebbetts version. i agree with the previous review of some of phill mixes being better.. for the most part i think glyns mix is better but the take of i got a feeling spector uses i feel is a stronger performace. i think john should have used that performance from the roof for this song.. that to me is the only song. also for i me mine its a little tricky..what i think would be the best is to have an I Me Mine like the glyns mix but extended like spectors but with no orchestra. i just think its such a great song and should be a little longer than a minute and half, so i like how specter edited it to be longer, but don't like the overdubbed orchestra.
