Listened to this selection on headphones. Little to no vinyl noise was detected except for track one - Love Me Do for obivious reasons noted above. I compared the good doctor's version with a nearmint Japanese 1980 LP I have and truely recommend this CD release for collector's.

This album.... RARE (ha!) as it may be.... started it all for me when I bought in on Vinal when it first came out. Who would hacve guessed that they would give us sucg gems as Misersy and There's A Place and leave Whats The New Mary Jane, Leave My Kitten Alone, Thats Means A lot, Come And Get It, You Know What To Do -- just to name a few --- off the album. Thank goodness for Anthology.

I loved this album when it came out. The good doctor did such a terrific job with this as with all his releases! No Vinyl noise whatsoever and the sound is crystal clear and crisp!!!!I hope Capitol follows his lead and issues all the U.S versions of the beatles catalog.

Have to marvel at the good Dr's expertise. I don't remember MY vinyl ever sounding so good!

this was my first beatle's album...given to my on my b-day in 1980. I wore it out and moved on to a cassette version...which the store bought cassette had more pops and ticks than my original album did (would capitol have just recorded a vinyl version to make there cassette? sure sounded like it). So you can imagine my excitment when i found the Dr's version on cd....it will always be one of my favorite albums just because it was my first!

I bought and still have this record, but can't play it due to no longer having the proper equipment to play records. Thanks to the Doc, I can hear it now. Doc did a fine job with this, it sounds better than my record would sound if I could play it, because my record undoubtably has some pops and clicks, which I have heard none of on this disk. Of course, most of this material isn't rare anymore, but to me the disk is important for the new rarities that were created for it by combining other versions, such as the stereo Penny Lane with the extra horn notes associated with the US mono DJ version, and a stereo I Am The Walrus with the intro riff six times combined with about two extra seconds found only in a US mono version.
