The Mono Versions of all the Beatles albums up to & including The "White Album" are essential. The original stereo mix of "Help" is also more enjoyable that the current CD version. Look for "Help" Original Mix 2 CD set, a great joy. Besides everything you get on this CD, it contains stereo version of Help LP, & more movie acetates. These are not outfakes but alternate mono mixes that were going to be used in the movie. The original mono mix of the video sountrack is also interesting, notice how the song Help sound different vocally.

Very interesting compilation. You feel difference between original stereo version on oficially released "Help!" and mono mix on this album. Also a lot of takes. I think, you MUST have it.

Very good compilation (why there is the SHELL logo?!)
I have 29 tracks with a help! outtake with the 007 (James Bond) Intro! That's strange!Everyone have this bonus track?

@ addsfsds:
Yes, it's the same matrix no. and label but has the "James Bond" Help as track 26. Therefor 26, 27 and 28 on the index above all move one place down becoming 27, 28 and 29.
The Shell logo is the original cover of a Dutch vinyl pressing which at one point in time was given away to Shell personel in Holland and is a collector's item by now (about 500 euro I'm told...)

Believe it or not, this is the best sounding mono mix of Help, by a considerable margin. For some reason, the Japanese Red Wax sounds thin and harsh, with no defined low end (kick drum and bass guitar). The EMI 2009 Mono Box has ample low end, but there is no high end to speak of and no real definition in the midrange. At lease in the case of the EMI release, you can make it sound good with an equalizer. No EQ can help the Red Wax sound.

The Help LP in mono was obviously a problematic release in mono from the very beginning. Take the mono mix of the single and title cut. Of all the singles I bought back in the '60s, Help was one of the worst sounding. It just was. Also, if they prized the mono mixes so, why does the mono mix not include the tambourine and cymbal work, which so electrifies the stereo version. At any rate, the poor sound of the mono mix of Help seems to carry over to the rest of the album, particularly when compared to the mono Rubber Soul, released just four and a half months later.

Though this release sounds a bit trebly, low end and midrange definition is good, and the sound is smooth, not harsh. With nothing else to compare it to, this is the clear winner of the three referenced.
