Lost Lennon Tapes lucky number 13 presents a mixed Bag of recordings spanning the time period of 1968-1980. The Great Wok's 1979 New Year's Resolutions opens the disc. From the next track onward, the album's cuts are presented in more or less chronological order. The earliest musical specimen is from the first incarnation of The Plastic Ono Band (Lennon, Clapton, Richards and Mitchell) as we hear a fragment from their rehearsal of Yer Blues for The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus. I Found Out (Take 2) is next (a different demo was presented on Volume 12). Demos for two of the songs from Imagine are next. Oh Yoko! and How? The latter song opens with John singing the opening lines of The Impressions' People Get Ready. An intriguing one-of-a-kind demo from the Sometime In New York City era is a song called Pill, recorded at John & Yoko's Greenwich Village home at 105 Bank Street. The "pill" referred to is methadone, the substance that John had to use to combat his heroin addiction. From Mind Games comes Out Of The Blue (basic tracks with rough vocals, no instrument overdubs and longer running time than the released take). Side one concludes with a demo for the Walls And Bridges track No. 9 Dream. John did a stint as guest disc jockey at a Los Angeles radio station to promote the aforementioned album. It is from this gig that the opening bit on side two originates. Dyslexics should appreciate this particular Tobias Sportswear ad. Jumping ahead into the Dakota days comes another home recording of John Henry, this time with electric guitar. The slightly ideosyncratic She Is A Friend Of Dorothy is a Dakota demo (at piano) of another unreleased song. It is followed by take one of Real Love, also at the piano. Moving into the studio for the Double Fantasy sessions we get an unfinished rough take of Dear Yoko. (Just Like) Starting Over is the version with a longer fade out that was never made commercially available. And lastly, we get another visit from Maurice DuPont.
