Beginning in 1967 and through the early 70's, the F & M Schaefer Brewing Co. sponsored concerts in Central Park. The concerts offered something for everyone.

At $2.00 for first come/first serve orchestra seats, the shows were popular and usually sold out. Hundreds would spend the day on line at the Wollman Rink to socialize and get the best seats.

Sadly, pressure from the neighborhood eventually forced the shows to the west side Piers and much of the appeal was gone.

Portions of the 1971 festival were shown on TV.

Great DVD. I only wished it was longer. Some of you may recognize some of these clips as they were shown in "The Beach Boys: America's Band" (Okie From Muskogee and Heroes And Villians, and then later Forever during the Dennis Wilson montage).
This starts with a long intro of film showing the stage being built as well as clips of the Beach Boys. It shows Dennis Wilson's right hand in a cast. He doesn't play drums during the Beach Boys set, but performs Forever behind keyboard.
And there's a quick shot of what looks likes George Harrison talking to Art Garfunkel out in the audience.
Plus you get great performances by Ike & Tina Turner and Carly Simon.
