In 1976 George Martin wanted to update the sound of certain early Beatles tracks and some of the later songs as well. While hoping he was upgrading, and he was, George was actually creating a monster. A lot of folks, The beatles included, were against, somebody messing with the original mixes. After all they had been "butchered" years early by the american company Capitol Records, now they were being again, but this time within their own EMI camp!

Now, many years later, upon listening to these versions really loud you can't beat the artristry of these mixes. You won't be disappointed! And don't forget, it's stereo!

Words from the bootleger, true or dare? I don't know, the mixes sound quite different, but there's no un improvement from the original. For example: Hey Bulldog, compare this song with the new "Yellow Submarine" version, the new one is superb. In spite of this, it's a very listenable CD.

Is this a 'pirate' of the Rock n' Roll Music 2LP set, for the most part?
Thus the 1976 remixes of mostly, well, uptempo rock n' roll songs from the Beatles' catalogue...?
I give it a six for 'originality', Red Robin wasn't the 'coolest' label around, looking back on their catalogue.
They filled a niche, one might say. Pirates.

Sounds good enough for the time, but has since ben surpassed by Dr. Ebbett's "Rock & Roll Music" disc.

I was excited about this one, but it turned out to suck. The guy that said this label was a bunch of pirates was probably right. Throwing on a pair of headphones, it sounded to me like the same stereo mixes we’ve always had (and the 1988 mixes for the Help and Rubber Soul CDs), except the channels were swapped. Lame. This might have been cool in 1994 when it came out and it was difficult to find stereo mixes on CD from the first 4 albums. Today it sucks. The stereo is flat and the sound quality is at least a bit less than excellent. If you don’t have this disc, grab a pair of low quality speakers and switch them, and you’ll get a pretty good idea of what this sounds like. Don’t waste your time downloading this one, get the HDCDs of the first six albums (you still can’t beat those) and stick with retail or MFSL versions from then on.

D/L'ed this from a major Bit Torrent site recently (Demonoid), so it's still out there making the rounds.

Nothing to write home about. Fine, I guess, if you don't have Dr. Ebbetts Rock 'n Roll Music, but nothing startling or particularly revelatory. Pretty much a waste of band-width, if you're wondering wether to DL this or not, I wouldn't bother wasting HD space or a CD-R.

It's a straight transfer of the "Rock & Roll" album, mastered slightly too fast. Useful for a while, as it offered a handful of hard-to-find-at-the-time stereo mixes, but now surpassed by Ebbetts and others.
