Gus Dudgeon remastered this album in 1996 and it was finally reissued in its' complete original form. When first issued on CD, it was limited to but one CD and tracks were left off, the tracks left off differed between the US, UK and Germany. However, one or two songs never saw CD until this reissue.

It is often said of double albums that they could have been a really good single album. In this case, that addage is correct. Still a bold step for Elton. They could have stuck to the "Hit" formula, but like Fleetwood Mac would do later with "Tusk" , Elton and company did this one their way. When they hit the mark, it's right on. I would have like to have seen this single album line up.
Your Starter For. One Horse Town. Crazy Water. Between Seventeen & Twenty. Cage The Songbird. Boogie Pilgrim. Idol. Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word. Where's The Shoorah. Theme From Nonexistent TV Series. Shoulder Holster. Bite Your Lip. A tad too much intrumental filler really weighs this double dip down.
