The Beatles
Unknown stereo mix based on the remake of take 1.
On 2 Aug 1968, 3 stereo mixes (RS1-3) based on take 1 (remake) were produced but apparently not used.
On 5 Dec 1969, two additional stereo mixes (RS20-21) were produced for inclusion on "Hey Jude (Beatles Again)". One of these two mixes was presumably used for the record.

The stereo version has appeared with early fades on some compilations.

When I acquired this disc, I was skeptical to say the least. I knew what Dr. Ebbetts was able to do with the original vinyl LPs, but this is a CD that was already remastered in great-sounding stereo!
The doc never ceases to amaze me. Somehow this album is CLEARER than the official release; it sounds like it was recorded just a few years ago. Every voice and instrument is distinct, giving new appreciation to the Boys' increasing use of the studio.
The definitive Past Masters 2, in my opinion.

The good doctor has done it again! This and volume one sound far better
than the official releases which always sounded a bit flat. Check them out!
"Lady Madonna" sounds fine on my copy.

29 June 2006 - I've traded for this a couple of times, and each time, the intro to "Lady Madonna" is a bit garbled. Am I unlucky, or is this fault on a lot of traded copies?

10 Sep 2008 - I have a clean copy now, and it sounds great!! But there are plainly bad ones circulating...

Again, poppycock. It's easy to deceive one's self when not making a strict A/B comparison, and, upon doing that, it is obvious there is NO discernable difference between this and the Capitol version. There are many DESS CDs to obtain that DO improve over the '87 remasters, but this isn't one of them.
