Reviews| Review by: craig braelow | On 25 Dec 2004 at 23:11 CEST | | | I have this set its everything a beatle fan wants and more .great package silver disc.has any one revewed anthology/directors cut yet is worth getting any new video from it or should i go with the rage set. which set is really worth the money |
| Review by: onosideboards | On 28 Jan 2005 at 00:32 CEST | | Of course I like this set because it holds all (?) of the promos, including some more recently created ones (like Eight Days a Week).
However, using the record instead of the native sound on some early clips is so unnecessary. And then they manage to mess up the timing, too.
Still, the video quality here is excellent. Even Some Other Guy shines here.
And it's great to see the b & w videos for PW and Rain (no, PW is not in color as is indicated above). |
| Review by: alain 1 | On 27 Mar 2005 at 18:06 CEST | | | This dvd needs no comment. It's superb! Well, if Apple doesn't bring them out, thanks to all the gods above for the good job the bootleggers did. |
| Review by: Zappaf78 | On 09 May 2005 at 15:25 CEST | | | I'm just hoping that the clips on the sneak-previews comes out soon! |
| Review by: Christopher Hegle | On 21 Dec 2005 at 21:56 CEST | | | I just picked up this disc in a trade, along with Volume 2. All clips are very, very good to beautiful quality. Also, unlike other bootleg packages we're all familiar with, there's professional editing between songs. No sloppy rush jobs here. These DVDs for these particular songs now render all other sources available obsolete. Of special interest, note George's Rickenbacker 425 on "She Loves You" and "I'll Get You" from Ready Steady Go, the guitar he picked up in Benton, Illinois, a month prior to this show. A very rarely seen Beatle instrument -- not to be seen again after 1963. "She Loves You" is misidentified above as being from Thank Your Lucky Stars in August. It is indeed from Ready Steady Go in October. "Twist and Shout," also filmed this day, unfortunately was not included in this package. That clip can found on Silent Sea's TV Tapes Volume 1, I believe. Anyway, these discs are absolute must-haves. Looking forward to seeing future releases from our friends at Picture Perfect, considering they've also put out the Anthology Director's Cut set and the Winter of Discontent discs. These guys know what they're doing. |
| Review by: fillapillowg | On 22 Dec 2005 at 05:27 CEST | | I recently obtained a copy through a trade and it's really well done! I have the 2 DVD set WATCHING RAINBOWS as well and I thought they packed everything on that one, SURPRISE!!! There is more weird stuff on here like the rare full b&w "Some other guy" performance from the Star Club. I thought this was a bogus fake created by some film studio. I saw it originally on my copy of THE COMPLEAT BEATLES VHS so many years back, but they only used a snippet there. Wow, this is a gem!
Also of note are the "mock videos" created by Capitol back in the late 80's for all their greatest hits reissues! Plus the goofing around before the filming of the "Lady Madonna" promotional clip is a rarity... Very clean prints for all clips!
Unfortunately, I don't do DVD trades - Don't have the software! |
| Review by: The Fool | On 23 Dec 2005 at 02:32 CEST | | | Yes, you'll be needing this one! |
| Review by: annokoning | On 30 Dec 2005 at 18:04 CEST | | | This is great! |
| Review by: Coldlimepizza | On 23 Jan 2006 at 15:51 CEST | | | The Quality ofthese clips are amazing. A MUST HAVE for any collector of DVDs of the Fabs. Way much better than I thought it would be. |
| Review by: Chappo | On 16 Mar 2006 at 21:44 CEST | | | Fantastic quality. Again I don't understand why Apple has not done something like this before now. Picture Perfect seem to becoming the Dr Ebbets of the Beatles video world! |
| Review by: m18r18 | On 28 Apr 2006 at 06:39 CEST | | I agree with Chappo. Minor complaint: The timing is off at the beginning of the Get Back video as indicated. Other than that, this is a near flawless DVD. Get this one! Apple... you waited too long. |
| Review by: Tfunder | On 26 May 2006 at 21:51 CEST | | hey guys, i have a stupid question...i just joined this site literally 5 minutes ago...
Was this DVD officially released for sale or do you need to acquire it a different way? If so, where could I get it
much thanks |
| Review by: addsfsds | On 21 Apr 2007 at 16:17 CEST | | | Get it if you can..this is the real definive collection! Both audio and video quality are superb |
| Review by: Marcegol | On 25 Mar 2009 at 21:15 CEST | | | EMI AND APPLE AND WHOEVER....KEEP ON SLEEPING! PEOPLE WANT EVERYTHING FROM THE BEATLES! THE BOYS LIVE FOREVER |
| Review by: Beatlesfan3213 | On 14 Jan 2010 at 03:10 CEST | | | I want to see the June 23 1963 clip from this video so bad. |
| Review by: mlucifersam | On 16 Jan 2010 at 22:12 CEST | | | Yep, great stuff. This is the sort of thing Apple should have done ages ago! |
