This tracks, given their age, are of amazing sound quality, and represent a brief glimpse into the early influences and overall sound of Neil Young. The one thing that caught my ear right away is Young's voice. Where's the fragile Neil whine?! It seems that in his early days, before joining Buffalo Springfield, Young may have been a little shy of his true singing voice and tried to mask it by singing lower in more of a generic tone as to attract possible radio attention and/or record company execs. I must say this is hard to adjust to, having heard offically released Neil all your life but certainly is worth having, if not for the rarity of these performances but simply for historical value. Also, the filler bonus tracks are quite enjoyable if not completely necessary. Also the cover art is gorgeous as can be seen in the above contained scans. Highly recommended!
