Cleverly well thought out White LP outake material. Way better than Silent Sea's compilation...Way better.

A nice 7 volume collection. However, I do not share FA-Q review. No way! Silent Sea's "White Sessions" 4 disc set contains no outfakes and the sound quality is tampered with very little and still very good.

On this disc:

Track 8 outfake is interesting and very good
Track 14 outfake is a waist of time

For some reason KTKK decide to create a 24 minute version of Helter Skelter. Wow! One would think that this is THE missing version at first glance. Forget it! It is junk.

This mindless effort is just the mono released version followed by a WAY TOO LONG period of silence and then followed by backwards chatter (anybody can do this!). Why this track? Is it an attempt to mis-lead?

Anyway, these discs all have excellent sound quality and creative artwork too!

Most of the tracks on this disk appear to be mono mixes. Other information I found on the Internet (reproduced below) suggests that this disk also contains an out-fake - unethical and unnecessecary.

The final track (Helter Skelter) on this disk contains 19-mins of backwards material as a "bonus track" (after some excess silence). I have rated this disk low because of this attempt to be clever - ultimately it is too clever for it's own good and ends up being downright annoying.

If you have a good wave editing program it is worthwhile extracting this track and reversing it so it can be listened to in the original direction. There are a few snippets of Yoko talking jibberish, and a short Lennon+McCartney improvisation. However, the main jem in this bonus material is the Radio Luxembourg interview with Paul McCartney on 20 November 1968. Recorded the day before The White Album was released in the UK, McCartney speaks about the album and the songs.

Track 15 Helter Skelter is the US Rarities LP version therefore it is not an outfake. The interview at the end is a joke on people looking for the 24 minute Helter Skelter and it does upset some folks. I to would have liked to have heard the interview forwards, though.

The only outfake I can hear on this cd is the full version of Revolution 1 that has been constructed with most of the Yoko chatter cut out.

I like Silent Sea's White LP but these recordings do not seem to be tampered with by bad edits and too much syrupy computer enhancements and high end.

You can tell this disc contains alot of the same recordings as the Peter Sellers tape only here they are at the correct speed and sound a bit crisper with less hiss.

Lennon announcing the band as Ken Macintosh and the Roving Remixers opens this disc on a totally different mix of Birthday.

Yer Blues has a slightly different intro as well as does Mother Natures Son, Everybody's Got Something To Hide that has more of Lennon vocal mixed to the fore.

I love the unedited Sexy Sadie with it's extended outro, it rocks.

The count-in on Helter Skelter (track 6) with it's screaming guitar blast is hot as well and should have been released this way.

And the list goes on. This set is a great way to listen to White LP Alternates in the same order as it's officially released counter part.

The Cry Baby Cry/Can You Take Me Back are an interesting mix as well. There's too much to go on about this cd. Too bad there are no liner notes to go with it.

For me the Revolution 1 full version is the star track here. You can actually hear the recording in process with Lennon contorting his voice here there and everywhere. The other Beatles had to do their "Baum Shoobi-Do-Wops" for ten minutes and the Paul & George hold up extremely well through the entire performance. The band also unintentually pick up the tempo for the last 3 minutes as McCartney injects some tasty basslines. It ends with some of Lennon & Yoko's sound scapes used for Revolution 9. Infact this proves that the later half of Revolution 1 certainly lies beneath Revolution 9 as you can hear the same manic Lennon vocals here that pop up in the later track. It ends with John asking Paul "How were we". Paul's response sounds sheepish.*

I can't get enough of this entire set of alternate White LP tracks.
