George Harrison & Paul McCartney - The Little Girl Tape Vol. 2 [ Reviews ] [ Want lists ] [ Trade lists ] [ Add to my trade/want list ]

Comments Follow-up to the "Little Girl Tape July 1967" disc, this is a similar format - fans visiting George and Paul and taping the encounter. George gives a few interesting snippets about the Hamburg tapes and the Lyceum 1969 show with John and Yoko. The interview with Paul is worthless - the sound quality is so bad that what is being said cannot be understood - all that is clear is that it sounds like Paul...
From the notes -
"Daughter of the Little Girl Tape" - The Little Girl Tape Vol. 2 A collaboration between MCP and Darthdisc
If you liked the Little Girl Tape... here's more. The main interview (track 1) is a visit to George by a young girl who had been diagnosed with a terminal disease, and - the mechanics aren't known to us - was invited for a visit, along with a friend. Based on some of the conversation topics, the tape seems to date to late 1977.
Track 2 sounds as if George followed the girls out to their car to bid them farewell, but our source insists that it was actually recorded on a return visit a year later, when the girl who was ill had apparently recovered, and stopped by to tell George she was still alive. Track 3 is an encounter with Paul, from the early 1980s. It is unknown whether the young lady who recorded it was either of those who visited George.
NOTE: This disc (not unlike "The Little Girl Tape") is truly for completists. The sound quality in the main interview is...decent but sometimes trying. It is, after all, a tape of a conversation that took place, apparently, during a lunch visit, with dishes and silver clanking away. The shorter interviews on tracks 2 and 3 were taped during enounters with George and Paul outdoors, with all the attendant traffic noise, etc. that you would expect. We got rid of some of the most obtrusive noises in the main interview, but didn't want to tamper too much with the sound of the event itself. Consider yourself warned, and done come crying to us if you think the sound is awful.

Liner Notes: From the Darthdisc Archives:
MEMO FROM DARTH TO NEO - MONDAY: I sense a disturbance in the Force. Specifically, MCP's archives have things ours don't. See to it now.
MEMO FROM NEO TO DARTHBABES - MONDAY: Need mission team to raid MCP archives. Lots of good stuff. Said to be worth your while girls.
MEMO FROM NEO TO DARTHBABES - TUESDAY: You can't ALL go. Five at most. Three to keep him involved, two to search archives.
MEMO FROM DARTHBABES MCP RAID TEAM TO DARTHBABES CENTRAL - TUESDAY: The rumors are true.
MEMO FROM NEO TO DARTHBABES - FRIDAY: Three days with MCP, and all you've got to show for it is a low-fi tape of fan encounters with George and Paul???
MEMO FROM DEBRIEFING UNIT TO NEO - FRIDAY: Been chatting with the DBs. Turns out they were...distracted. Couldn't get two volunteers to leave MCP for the archival raid, so they just grabbed a cassette at random on the way out. They request further missions to MCP headquaters to make up for it. Also came back with a strange newsclipping about Harrison in a car crash.
MEMO FROM DARTH TO DARTHBABES - FRIDAY: I find your lack of faith disturbing.
MEMO FROM NEO TO ELF1, DARTHLABS - FRIDAY: New tape. Needs restoration badly: handheld recorder, late 70's/early 80's vintage, fan interviews George at his house; another (?) catches Paul on the street.
MEMO FROM ELF1, DARTHLABS TO NEO - SUNDAY: Got rid of some clicks and noises in the main interview. Bit of EQ and speed cxn. But hey, there's not a lot that can be done with track 3, the Paul Encounter. Too much ambient noise; EQ it out and you lose the talking too. Go with the "you are there" feel of the untampered with original.
MEMO FROM DARTHBABES UNION TO DARTH - SUNDAY: Babes disgruntled. All 50 of them insist on immediate posting to MCP headquarters for what they call super-mega-raid. Hint they might return with 27-min Helter Skelter.
MEMO FROM NEO TO DARTH - SUNDAY: Re Darthbabes Request - I sense deception. But they're due some down time. I say let them go for it.
MEMO FROM DARTH TO NEO - SUNDAY: So be it.
MEMO FROM NEO TO ART DEPARTMENT - SUNDAY: Sending over three Darthelves with materials for "Daughter of the Little Girl Tape" or whatever you feel like calling it. Need it ASAP.
MEMO FROM ART DEPARTMENT UNION TO NEO - MONDAY: Art department's disgrunted. Heard rumor Darthbabes dispatched en masse to MCP, says, "What're we, chopped liver? From now on keep the elves on the mother ship and send stuff down here with the Darthbabes. Don't think we aren't aware that the artwork is what made Darthdisc famous."
MEMO FROM NEO TO DARTH - MONDAY: Re Art Department. I'll leave this to you.
MEMO FROM DARTH TO NEO - MONDAY: It steams my visor, but they're right: EMI wishes they had an art department like ours. I'll handle it.
MEMO FROM DARTH TO ART DEPARTMENT - MONDAY: You are part of a rebel alliance and a traitor. But okay, I'll send some of the Babes down to pick up the art when it's done.
