Lame, lame, lame.
Review by: Dr. Roberts,On 15 Mar 2001
I disagree totally with the "lame, lame, lame" review above. This is the best source for the 3 Help soundtrack acetates and the Hey Jude section is probably one of the best collections of these takes on CD. You also get a $400+ rated EMI promo single for the Rock'n'Roll Music album too!
The Penny Lane promo mono mix and the I Am The Walrus US mono mix can ONLY be found on this CD!!!
What do you want? It's called Hodge Podge after all!! Buy it, you might be pleasantly surprised!
Review by: François Vander Linden, beatleg@easynet.beOn 18 Mar 2001
Sorry Dr Roberts, but you're wrong again ... Penny Lane promo mono mix has been available since 1998 on Walrus Alternate Magical Mystery Tour. And I Am The Walrus is nothing but an "official fake" which has been created for the "Beatles Box" LP set. It has been bootlegged/pirated on numerous releases since, including Rarities (Red Robin/Beat), All Too Much (Scorpio), etc.
Review by: Dr Roberts,On 21 Mar 2001
I'm sorry, but you're wrong again! The I aM The Walrus is the genuine Us mono version. I'm not going to go into detail about the differences, but they are there. If you combine the stero tracks of "official fake" from the Beatles Box (or US Rarities OR Casualties - where this version first appeared) you don't get the clean mono sound as on this release. THIS IS THE US MONO MIX.
As for Penny Lane, what you get on the Walrus release is the "official fake" created for the US Rarities LP. This has the stereo version with the trumpet ending (in mono) edited onto the end. On this disc, you get the GENUINE US PROMO version!! THIS IS IN MONO THROUGHOUT! Again, there are subtle little differences.
Review by: Mike Hudson, S6698@AolOn 18 Apr 2001
I have to disagree with Dr. Roberts. According to Brennan and several other sources, the mono single does not have the trumpet after the line "it's a clean machine", this version does. I have to believe this is a fake. I Am The Walrus appears to be legitimate. Sound quality is generally bad throughout the rest of this disc. Save your money.

Review by: Kevin IslesOn 06 Dec 2006 at 07:03 CEST
For me this is a waste of time. It seems to me that by now all the good bootleg material has been taken so bootleggers have been sent scrambleing for the slightest hint of a rarity and what they found isn't too good. Pass this one up.
