Disc 1 consists of many outtakes covering the era of John’s first two solo albums, in addition to a take of “I’m the Greatest”, which of course John gave to Ringo to record for his album “Ringo”. The highlight of Disc 1 is perhaps an outtake of “Give Me Some Truth”. In this track John’s voice does not sound as powerful as in the take released in “Imagine”, but it is very expressive. George slide guitar solo is wonderful. Unfortunately, this take ends abruptly. This is followed by an early take of “How Do You Sleep?”. This is an interesting take, it is lacks the drive and the polish of the version in “Imagine”, but it is very appealing nonetheless, specially on account of the outstanding keyboard playing by the great, late Nicky Hopkins (who is universally considered to be one of the most important session musicians in all of Rock history). Though the guitar solo by George is still in its infant form, it is nonetheless powerful. The next track is a bluesier take is of the same song. In this interesting take John’s voice is more self-assured while George plays more slide guitar but John quits the take when George begins to play the solo. The final track is another take of the same song, which sounds very similar to the version in “Imagine” but ends abruptly.
