This isn't nearly as bad as you may think...as Paul is/was often wont to return to old ideas, there are a handful here he should have considered returning to, and beefing up. As lyrics have never been McCartney's continuous strong point, I find it completely bizarre that Sir Paul would compose three full verses about acne ("Boil Crisis"), rather than just repeat one over and over as we so often know him to do. "Backwards Traveler" was a personal favorite, as it's a foray away from the usual and over-milked love theme. Even the jams are short and mostly listenable. I was pleasantly surprised at this one, which I only wanted for the first track, an embryonic version of "Old Siam Sir," which is known here as "Super Big Heatwave," but does eventually feature a verse from the eventual song it would be, just no famous descending part in place yet. Oddly enough, at the beginning, Paul hisses "Thisss.....is it!" exactly like the comment that would procede "Spin It On" on BACK TO THE EGG. Like I said, he often remembers older ideas for later. Very entertaining disc.

The use of the drum machine here is horrible as are most of the demos. Watersprout is the only thing of interest the rest is just irritating. 1977 was the year of Punk but obviously not the year of Paul.
