Original is a gold CDR

There are already several 'clones' of this disc already.

XS007 In a jewel case with similar artwork and a white plain printed disc.
Good Sound Quality, I'm told comparable to the original CDR release.

JL2 In a Jewel case, cover slip with alternative cover and white plain printed disc.
I haven't heard this disc

I always thought John's Plastic Ono Band was a classic.Although not a critical success like his Imagine Album,I think it stands up 30 years later as one of the best Rock albums of all time.He really poured his heart & soul into that one.Having said that,I must say I also love this CD.The first two tracks (Mother & Love) are great.
I always felt "GOD" was a masterpiece overlooked by the general public,so it is wonderful to have all these demos of that great song.Plus to have the Rock n' Roll jam complete and in wonderful sound just rounds off a really great boot.If you own no other Lennon bootleg, you must have this one in your collection.

Pegboy continues to amaze us. This collection is the defenitive collection of outtakes from the "Plastic Ono Band" LP.

It opens up with the demo to "Love" and "Mother". Although the sound is a bit warbled at times, still worth several listens.

"When A Boy Meets A Girl' is nice unreleased track, going through two takes here.

The 4 takes of "God" is John's working demo and all are excellent.

The rest of the demos are fantastic acoustic only performances of the POB LP. "Well Well Well" is the highlight of this set.

The "Mother" alternate suffers from too much echo and treble, but still a more bare bone version of this track.

The other alternat versions sound much better but differ very little form the released takes.

The rock n roll jam is great, a definite find.

The final "Love" remix is from the 1982 single release (remixed in stereo) and cuts out the fade in/fade out to make it more suitable for airplay.

If you love the POB band, this is a Must Have!

Poor sound quality, but never mind, it's JOHN LENNON!

I wanted this cd to be so good, but it just isn't. Take this with a grain of salt, I listened to it right after I heard Harrison's Beware of Abkco. Nothing could sound equal to that. When a boy meets a girl is a bit of unreleased goodness. The Love remix is great, a really haunting bit of piano. I'm not sure off the top of my head how it is different though. The "goofy intro" God demo is worth a laugh. Plastic Ono Band is my favorite Lennon album, followed by Imagine, so I had high hopes for this one. Drop one star if Lennon is not your favorite Beatle. Add one if you can't get enough Plastic Ono Band.

In order to get all the outtakes for John's emotional masterpiece "Plastic Ono Band" you need to get this CD, as well as "Hushed Bells Over" and Anthology.

Let's go deeper into the tracks:

Program numbers from "The Lost Lennon Tapes" radio series are included since it is being tree'd in its entirety right now.
*** = core status for a track

1. LOVE (electrified ac. guitar demo)*** rec. in California, summer of 1970
Taken from broadcast 89-29/1.

2. MOTHER (electrified ac. guitar demo)***
Probably from the same demo tape as the above track. Using a composite from programs 89-22/1 and 91-01/3 would result in the most complete version and that is what we have here.

On July 28, 1970 John made a cassette which included the following tracks: "God" (4 takes), "Yoko Ono Poem Game", "When A Boy Meets A Girl" (2 takes) and "Well, Well, Well". Thanks to Pegboy, we can hear it here. The following tracks 3 to 9 are from tape source surpassing the previously available versions from the transcription discs.

3. WHEN A BOY MEETS A GIRL (ac. guitar demo - take 1)***

4. WHEN A BOY MEETS A GIRL (ac. guitar demo - take 2)***
Take 2 was never aired on TLLT.

5. GOD (ac. guitar demo)***
It looks like this was the 3rd out of the 4 recorded takes.
6. GOD (ac. guitar demo)***
Take 4?
7. GOD (electrified ac. guitar demo)***
Take 1?
8. GOD (electrified ac. guitar demo)***
Take 2?

9. WELL, WELL, WELL (ac. guitar demo)***

10. I FOUND OUT (electrified ac. guitar demo)***
This and the following "take 2" have been copied from the transcription discs, in this case from program 88-51/4. This take is also on the "Anthology" box but there are several differences:
- The intro is slightly longer on "Anthology",
- it's in stereo here but in mono on "Anthology",
- the producers of "Anthology" applied noise reduction, and made two edits, at 2'44 and 3'24.

11. I FOUND OUT (electrified ac. guitar demo)***
From program 89-11/5.

12. MY MUMMY'S DEAD (electrified ac. guitar demo)***
This take 1 is what ended up on the "John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band" album, but in processed form, as well as reduced to mono. It is presented here unprocessed from program 89-44/1 but has been edited together with the cv to give us the longest possible version.

13. MY MUMMY'S DEAD (electrified ac. guitar demo)***
Take 2 from program 91-34/2.

14. LOOK AT ME (ac. guitar demo sequence)*** rec. late 1968
A flashback to the time of the "White Album" sessions, taken from program 89-34/2. Sounds like a sister composition to JULIA.

15. MOTHER (alternate take, incomplete)***
Thankfully, Pegboy presents this from tape source because this take's intro was subject to a voice over during its one and only broadcast on TLLT.

16. I FOUND OUT (rough mix)***
The first of two available rough mixes. This one can be distinguished by:
- John's spoken intro,
- the very audible conga's in the mix (as opposed to the cv),
- the long fade, featuring more of John's reprise of "Gone, Gone, Gone" than on any other version.
Taken from the most complete airing of this rough mix on program 88-47/3.

17. I FOUND OUT (rough mix)
This is where "The Dream Is Over" lets us down a bit. The liner notes say this is the second available rough mix wich should feature a nearly identical instrumentation to the cv but in a wider stereo mix. However, what we seem to have here is simply the first 28 seconds of the previous track 16. edited together with the cv!
To get the true second rough mix, which was broadcast once in program 89-36/2, (where the outro got buried under narration) find a copy of Vigotone's LOOK AT ME CD.

18. WELL, WELL, WELL (take 4, stereo rough mix)***
The most complete version of this rough mix has to be pieced together from its two airings in programs 89-34/4 and 92/03/5 and this is what Pegboy gives us here. Since the later broadcast was in mono while the earlier one was in stereo, there is a corresponding change at the edit point (3'33).

19. LOOK AT ME (rough mix)***
This is the 'dry' mix from program 89-40/1.

20. LOOK AT ME (rough mix)***
The phased mix (compare the first line) taken from program 91-51/5.

21. "Session Jam"
From tape source. For similar jams listen to "Between The Takes", one of the bonus tracks on Yoko's "Fly" CD and "Slow Blues" and "Fast Rocker" on Geritol's "True Masters" 4 CD release.

22. Love (1982 stereo remix from 45)

What else is there?
Of course, in '98 we got plenty of very nice bits via the "Anthology" box ("Mother", "Hold On", "Working Class Hero", "Isolation", "Remember", "Love", "Look At Me", "God", and "Long Lost John").

Then there are the two acetates of "Mother" and "Remember" that are the main reason why Masterdiscs "Hushed Bells Over" exists.

I love this disc! It is worth getting even just for the God demos. Very nice bootleg to listen to.
