A very well-put-together set, and a pleasure to listen to! Compiled using the best sources available to date, minus the officially released BBC stuff, which is widely distributed and in copyright! :) EDIT: Those particular tracks actually appear on here but from a different source - they are not sourced from the official releases.

These are just the shows where they played music, mind you - the interviews they did can be found on the bonus disc, which comes with a nice HTML interface that loads into your browser when you pop the CD into the drive.

Great stuff!

Whoops. I want to amend my critique. Apparently (after reading the forum here), Yellow Dog have the wrong version of Too Much Monkey Business, NOT Purple Chick!

Mea Culpa!

I hereby amend my rating for this disc!

Either i got a bad copy, or the sound on this album sucks. So dont pay attention to my review.
Review by: TenniruOn 20 Nov 2005 at 22:54 CEST
ChuckyD is right. It does sound awful, mostly; these are very early recordings, and sadly suffer from combinations of too many generations, tape age, and bad signal. Several songs have parts missing from them and are in fragments. Others have incoherent vocals.
But still, these are the best sources available. The songs here that have not appeared anywhere else in better quality all sound mostly tolerable, with the exception of Dream Baby and A Picture Of You (and Dream Baby is only bad because the song is really not very good. A Picture Of You's vocals are not understandable, though.)
The worst track on this is either track 23 or track 12.

But the quality improves quickly over this set. This is a compilation of all the BBC available, and the stuff that appeared on the official album (Live At The BBC) is present, but mostly sounds BETTER; Purple Chick is using better sources than the Great Dane bootleg the official album is based off of. There are still missing parts of speech; something that makes me think that a better tape, either lower-gen or master, is out there somewhere. It just hasn't been found yet.

I Have the Great Dane Version and the other from the "beeb records" that is called: "The Complete BBC Anthology" this one includes the show "Where's At" an other interesting stuff, i just have to get this new collection upgraded, and my opinion is i noticed the sound is more clean than de other versions, after all it's the beatles, so what? :-)

Is a MUST HAVE!!!
