Review: Dr Ebbetts -"20 Greatest Hits" The Beatles - UK Pressing PCTC 260
by: tntvideo

Here is a perfect example of what The Beatles "1" album should have sounded like instead of it being an ear bleeding rendition of unlike these "20 Greatest Hits" by The Beatles UK pressing

You will hear on these songs that the tracks were mastered to have room for the music to breath, almost as if you were standing still in the middle of the band while they were playing them, as opposed to these same songs from The Beatles "1" album that when being remixed and remastered took these songs and other's then used Compression and Noise Reduction making the songs sound so loud as well as unrealistic sounding like that the air was sucked out of each and every song just to update them to make them do nothing but sound louder, boomy, and just down right irratating to give one ear fatigue.

This is why Dr Ebbetts has taken a step back in time in order to bring us how this music was supposed to sound like and WOW if only the so called Beatles Remasters could come close to sounding this good. I highly doubt that they'll ever get that correct, though....

It seems they had it right or correct the first time here in 1982. Imagine that, 1982 before any of the current CD's were available. Also to mention that this is the UK edition that has some of the same tracks and some totally different tracks that don't appear on the US version of this LP with the same name "20 Greatest Hits" The Beatles.

This is the UK Catalog PCTC 260 edition with all of the correct UK mixes of these songs.

A GREAT SOUNDING FIRST ISSUE FROM A 2 BOX EMI/PARLOPHONE LABEL

It seems that once again Dr Ebbetts has taken a total pristine copy of this vinyl and made the finest quality transfer in my own humble opinion and put it into a wonderful looking and great sounding package.

The Track list is:
1. Love Me Do
2. From Me To You
3. She Loves You
4. I Want To Hold Your Hand
5. Can't Buy Me Love
6. A Hard Day's Night
7. I Feel Fine (studio noise & the 'whispering' intro)
8. Ticket To Ride
9. Help!
10. Day Tripper (starts off with the single guitar riff for a few bars, the second guitar is then faded in)
11. We Can Work It Out
12. Paperback Writer
13. Yellow Submarine
14. Eleanor Rigby
15. All You Need Is Love
16. Hello Goodbye
17. Lady Madonna
18. Hey Jude
19. Get Back
20. The Ballad Of John And Yoko

Once again his new thermal color copy process he puts on the discs top as well as his excellent recreation of the LP's cover front and back as well as inside's for the jewel case that it comes in.

If you combined this version from Dr Ebbetts and also the US version from Dr Ebbetts you will end up having the perfect sounding "ONE" disc and even then some. Although "Something" will be missing...

Surely a wonderful sounding disc to play anytime, anyplace and on any type of system you may have the pleasure to ENJOY!!
