This disc has numerous track numbering problems.

Text from cover:
The legendary 'Get Back' radio broadcast. WBCN FM Boston. September 22, 1969

Text from booklet:
According to Beatle folklore, promotion copies of their unreleased 1969 GET BACK LP were distributed to radio stations in the United States.

In fact, NO promotional copies of the album were issued, although many radio stations aired tapes which were in circulation at the time. Some stations (such as WBKW in Buffalo, and WEBN in Cincinnati) aired an undocumented mix of GET BACK (available only on an obscure bootleg entitled O.P.D.), which mirrors the final track listing of the LP, as documented in THE BEATLES: RECORDING SESSIONS.

A second source for the GET BACK material was a reference acetate prepared by Beatles producer Glyn Johns on March 10, 1969. This was also aired by a number of American stations, including WBAI in New York, KCOK AM in St. Louis, and WBCN in Boston (which is our source here).

This tape is significantly different than the "final" mix, which is widely available on various illicit records. It's noticeably less processed than the other both in terms of editing and the use of reverb. It also includes an extra performance of "Get Back" and a cover of Jimmy McCracklin's "The Walk."

What's noticeable here, though, is that this is far and away the best sounding tape of this material you're ever likely to hear. WBCN obtained a reel-to reel tape of the actual reference acetates. Their broadcast was preserved on another high-quality reel, and a digital copy of that tape was used to master this LP. We've also elected to leave in most of the actual commercials and announcements from the WBCN DJ. This provides a charming framework , and sadly reminds us of how much radio has changed.

This is and artifact of an era that won't come again. Enjoy it!

A cool slice of history, FM radio was such a thrill to listen to back in the late 60's early 70's. A copy of the acetates Glyn John's gave to the Beatles to consider for the Get Back Project in March 1969.

This an actual radio broadcast from a Boston radio station in 1969,which got their hands on a copy of the acetate Glyn John's had made.It is very cool. There is some surface noise on the songs.I understand the Yellow dog version has cleaned up the songs, but that issue lacks the radio DJ's announcements.I prefer to listen to it this way,as it puts you right back there in 1969.The first 2/3rds of the CD is the most interesting.Towards the end,all you hear are comercial versions from the Abby road album (except "I've got a feeling" and "the long & winding road" are towards the end also). The first half of the CD is by far the best.If you like GET BACK material, run to get this one.It is a fun CD to listen to.

The "Get Back" songs found here are standard issue, but the real fun is listening to an obviously-excited DJ who warns listeners taping his program that Apple may be sending them a telegram ordering them to not listen to the unreleased music. Maybe he expected Alan Klein to show up at their door. The ads are cool (the title of this CD comes from the Chess King ad), as is Harry Zonk tap dancing to a band playing "Hey Jude". I still don't know what "Poor Hungry Hillbilly White Boy" is. Not sure why the Abbey Road/Give Peace a Chance snippet/Ballad of John & Yoko was in the broadcast.
Overall, pretty entertaining stuff - certainly unique.

Great disc, really interesting audio history of radio.
Does anyone out there happen to know the name of the DJ that is featured on this disc? I'm just curious.

A great piece of history and very listenable sound.

The Track listing here is based upon yet another Vigotone FAKE.

The order here of track nine is wrong.

The original has 27 rather than 14 tracks.

original track listing is available here:

www.vigotone.com

the artwork on the fake has not been recreated this time just copied and is very very fuzzy. The disc art is a negative of the original.

What have you got in your collection?
