This portion of the film was recorded between the 11th June 1968 when Paul recorded 'Blackbird' at Abbey Road and it's first showing on the 21st June 1968. Bramwell believes that it was recorded approx. 2 days after studio session , circa 13th June.

Incomplete - Unknown mix . Massed applause at the end has been edited out at some stage. 1968 or post 1970.

According to Mark Lewisohn Dear Prudence was recorded in one take recorded on '8 track' with the song recorded track by track each one perfected over a number of times while simultaneously wiping previous attempts.

This version is after various over dubs on the 29th August but prior to those of a piano track and short burst of flugelhorn.

All those 'birds are repetitive but if you see it buy it.

The "Blackbird" sessions from video tape, these are in mono. The most important thing on this CD is the alternate version of "Hey Jude" and 2 versions of "Dear Prudence". Repro-Man is made by the good people at Vigotone and this a direct clone of the Midnight Beat release. Pick up either one.
Review by: Gary, gbeegle@frontiernet.netOn 22 Aug 2000
Some people find theme oriented CD's boring due to the repeative nature of them. Most have multiple versions of the same song,as does this CD with the song "blackbird".I however find sessions like this fascinating.I always feel it is a look into the creative mind of the Beatles at work.I like this CD for that reason.Plus I think the version of "hey Jude" as well as the two versions of "Dear Prudence" are great.Besides that,we get a bit of Paul working on "Helter Skelter",which is worth the cost of the CD just for that alone in my mind.I like this CD enough to give it a 9.If you are into Beatles recording sessions, you will want to hear all those Blackbirds sing.

After repeated listenings, I have found that the "Dear Prudence" (final track here) is a fake. Track 2 is a REAL alt. mix.

I really don't know why, but this is one of my favorites. Track 17 is titled "Organ Play & Drinking Tea" - hysterical. Love the alternate version of "Hey Jude."
Review by: Mathias Oleskow, moleskow@yahoo.comOn 05 Apr 2001
A really nice bootleg! Hey Jude is great! This early mix splits music and Paul's voice in different channels. So, you can hear Paul singing almost "a capella" on the right channel and the acoustic track on the left channel. (it also features a different jamming on the end of the song!)
Take 1 of Dear Prudence is also very cool, the other one (listed as "bonus track-early mix-no fade") may be fake; the track fades out and ends with John talking and some applause, but its hard to tell.
The acoustic version of Helter Skelter is beautiful and Gone Tomorrow Here Today sounds good too.
The whole Blackbird rehearsal is very nice and sometimes even funny! If you like this kind of bootlegs (like I do), you'll love it. It's like being on the recording studio for a while. If you see it, buy it.

A decent bootleg. The Blackbird sessions is repetative but...if you enjoy hearing the creative process this is ESSENTIAL listening.
