From Doc's Announcement:

INDEED, THIS TITLE ALREADY EXISTS IN THE DR. EBBETTS CATALOGUE – BUT NOT EXACTLY. THE VERSION THAT IS CURRENTLY PART OF THE EBBETTS CANON FEATURES ONLY TWO OF THE TWELVE SONGS IN STEREO (“Please Mister Postman” and “You Can’t Do That’). THAT’S HOW IT WAS RELEASED – AS A STEREO LP – WITH TEN MONO CUTS.

THIS VERSION OF THE SAME LP FEATURES SEVEN OF THE TWELVE TRACKS IN STEREO. (YES, THAT’S HOW IT WAS PRESSED). THIS, TOO, HAS GARNERED A LOT OF REQUESTS. MANY LIKE THE SOUND OF THIS PRESSING. (PURPLE CAPITOL OF CANADA LABEL)

Dr Ebbetts: "LONG TALL SALLY" Canadian Capitol (Version 2)by tntvideo

Well an LP from Capitol of Canada that uses the same artwork front and back as the US Capitol The Beatles Second Album. In this case that is where it stops. When it was first was released it only had two songs in Stereo and all the rest were in Mono. So when those 2 stereo cuts came on it really used to irritate the heck out of my ears. LOL!!!

This is somewhat updated pressing from perhaps the early or late 70's. This one they got together 7 Stereo tracks and in this case listening to the wonderful Mono titles don't bother my ears a bit. What's I seem find hard to believe is that all 12 tracks are without a doubt IMHO the best sounding what I would say are the original UK mixes be they Mono or Stereo. For this LP the Production in Canada was by Paul White.

It's very hard for me to believe that these 12 great tracks that come from The Beatles Please Please Me, With The Beatles, & A Hard Days Night except for the title cut "Long Tall Sally and the B side single I'll Get You have such a fantastic Dynamic sound to them. The Clarity that I want is there coming from these songs as well the amazing amount of Bass.

Paul's Bass Guitar can be heard and felt on every track that is for sure, the real mindbender for me is the bassline he is laying down on this albums cut of George's fine rendition of "Roll Over Beethoven" talk about killer!!! This is also without a doubt the absolute driest Wide True Stereo version I believe I have ever heard on any other Beatles LP's.

You without a doubt have 5 great Mono songs that again it's hard to believe that they couldn't have come from anything else but a 1st generation tape, yet I'm sure that couldn't be farther from the truth as for all the songs would have to be at least from a 2nd generation copy of each song. Then again ya never know.

The latest thing has been about tube cut masters, I can only say that if you want that type of sound to be coming out of your Speakers or I-Pod for these 12 Beatles songs.

I personally can say that this is one you should have in your collection for sure, right next to the Wide Stereo version of the Canadian release of "BeatleMania" With The Beatles also from Dr Ebbetts from the Capitol of Canada LP.

Here is the track list:
1. I Want To Hold Your Hand - MONO
2. I Saw Here Standing There - TRUE WIDE STEREO (again Paul's Bass playing is astounding here)
3. You Really Got A Hold On Me - TRUE WIDE STEREO
4. Devil In Hear Heart - TRUE WIDE STEREO
5. Roll Over Beethoven - TRUE WIDE STEREO (Rock on that Bass Paul) Wooo!!!
6. Misery - TRUE WIDE STEREO
7. Long Tall Sally - MONO
8. I Call Your Name - MONO
9. Please Mister Postman - TRUE WIDE STEREO
10. This Boy - MONO
11. I'll Get You - MONO (A very good sounding version, better than the 45) IMHO
12. You Can't Do That - TRUE WIDE STEREO

Truly a remarkable achievement to hear The Beatles sounding so darn good. Once again true as ever, the Doc has made this the perfect replica of the LP's artwork both Front and Back for the jewel case as well as the gorgeous looking thermal printed Purple Capitol Label for the top of the CD's disc.

Thank You once again Dr Ebbetts, "There's NO OFF POSITION ON THE GENIUS SWITCH" here!!!!

Ah yes, this is certainly a clean sounding LP. Just as tntvideo says, the mastering is perfect, and it definitely is the driest sounding stereo from this era.

I wouldn't be surprised if we found out it was off the master tapes either!

The bass is noticeably clearer than other releases: less distorted, more upfront (but not overpowering). The first time I listened to it, I literally said "wow." To myself, alone in my room. :D

Recommended. A great example of Dr. Ebbetts' skill!
