This cd is a marvel to hear ! The first 12 tracks presumably come from John Barrett tapes, and the rest is good-quality audio, taken from broadcasts, rehearsals and other sources. Raga, track 14 and 25 add eastern flavour to George's legacy, which is enhanced by the beautiful Dehra Dun, Gopala Krsna and I live for you. Even snippets of Awaiting on you all, Far east man and I don't care anymore from 1974 are great, and the rehearsal version of Taxman is a real find. The 1997 version of All things must pass is strange.
As for pure pleasure, I prefer this one above Pirate Songs. If you can find it, snap it up !

Well, what can you say? Strawberry has done it! Excellent selections from John Barret tapes and live, studio outtakes from 70's and 90's. Sound is great, packaging nice and goes well with your Harrison collection: Pirate Songs, 12 Arnold Grove, Beware of Abkco!, Living in the Alternate World, and Making of All Things Must Pass. Much better than Vigotone's "Through Many Years."
Vigotone, you done us wrong and three times now, have ripped off your fans with Glyn johns final Mix, Imagine:More Sessions and Through Many Years-all costly items.

This is a great CD! A toss up between this and Vigotone's issue of the Barrett tapes. Vigotone has a great booklet and some Ringo tracks, but this is pure Harrison at his best.

Ditto to the above reviews.
A great collection of rare Harrison, spanning
two decades, with great sound. Beautifully
packaged, also.
Whatever it costs, it's worth it.

Great stuff - especially the Barrett material. It's great to hear "Dehra Dun" in its entirety, after its brief mention in the "Anthology" videos.

The 1997 stuff is priceless - George's last live performances, caught on CD.

Like the above reviews, I have to agree with the importance of this material. For me, the best songs are the JOHN BARRET material. Since more of the VH1 show came to light, when George passed like all things, particulary, "IF YOU DONT KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING ANY ROAD WILL TAKE YOU THERE" ,and the Traveling Wilburys song, played at the same time, would be nice to hear here. Perhaps to NOT have the Billboard awards speach, and instead hear songs from THE SILVER WILBURY's jam, or perhaps a demo for some of the many songs he wrote for Eric Clapton, Ringo, and even the song THE HOLDUP George wrote with David Bromberg, would be cool. BUt these are small criticisms, really. IF you want to have a NICE George collection, then you cant really miss this one. NICE ART WORK TOO.

It's good but there's a lot of wasted material here (interviews, sound bytes, etc.). I personally prefer Pirate Songs and Songs For Patti in 'The Lost Tapes' series.

But if you're a collector as I am, it's a must have cause there is some stuff just not available elsewhere.
Review by: opheliousOn 17 Oct 2003 at 15:58 CET
I thought this was mediocre. A lot of the tracks are just duplicates that are longer or shorter, or mixed differently. Why not just put out the longer one? A lot of live stuff and odds and ends that are hard to find. I like George, but I thought this stuff was boring overall with the exception of a few interesting tracks (It's worth it alone to get George signing Get Back!)

Ever since hearing Dehra Dun and Gopala Krsna, I've wondered why they weren't released. Great CD.

Dehra Dun is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I listen to this sometimes when my world seems to be falling apart and it reminds me of what really matters. Thank you George!

A very good collection of George stuff. Most of it I have never heard befor but it can get boaring with all the edits, instrumentals, and random radio & tv shows. The best stuff on there is the Saturday Night Live rehersals and the 1974 radio show.
heres some more track info:
3-10 - From the John Barret tapes
11 - a demo made for Dorris Troy who was covering it in 1969
12 - Pete Drake messing around duing the All Things sessions
13 - Live in the studio with Bob Dylan during his New Morning sessionss
15-17 - Recorded for the british DJ alan Freeman's "Rock Around The World" program in 1974
18-19 Rehersals with Paul Simon for Satuday Night Live in 1976
22 - An interview with in 1991 about his Royal Albert Hall Performances in London, England
