Review by: Eric, sink0014@tc.umn.eduOn 16 Apr 2000
I'm going to use this review for all the discs in this IMAGINE boxset. If you have heard a CD with IMAGINE outtakes on it (or even seen the movie!) then you have basically heard this ENTIRE set. The rehearsals are interesting at times (at times not). Take one sounds not so quite like take two.. Take two sound like take three and so on..
Some tracks that are interesting are George's intro to Oh My Love, a small portion of How Do You Sleep? rehearsals AND take one of Imagine. Baby Please Don't Go isn't very entertaining and the rest of the tracks make me feel like I've been listening to the same recording five or six times in a row... I wouldn't even say this set is for fans of John's Imagine since I love that album to death, yet I cannot get myself to sit down and listen to this set more than once or twice a year..

I have to disagree with Eric on this one.I find all these IMAGINE sessions to be fascinating.Yes,some of the songs sound similar to each other, but there is such a vast amount of stuff on this complete set (6 CD set),that there is alot of really good, and different stuff available here also.Plus,to have such a vast amount of material in 6 CD's, presents these session from Johns most commericially successful album in a way that allows the listener to follow the evolution of the entire album. The sound is wonderful on the vast majority of this material.I love this set and feel that Vigotone did a wonderful job here.
