Review by: Ron, rseifire@optonline.netOn 10 Sep 2000
Simply put, an excellent disc. The first 9 tracks cover the final rooftop concert (minus "God Saves the Queen"). Unfortunetly, the volume varies at times and Paul's vocals are a bit bassy.I believe the source tape is from the film crew and not from the soundboard (w/ G. Martin mixing live in the basement). As much as Paul's vocal is muddled, John's vocal is very clear."Dig a Pony" is cool because it includes the opening vocal by Paul, which Phil Spector edited out of the final mix. The final version of "Get Back" also has Pauls line about getting arrested, allthough it seems a bit obvious that John "audition" line was edited in by the bootleggers from the original LP. The remaining 11 tracks consist of more songs the Beatles ran through at Twickenham studios for the film crew. Although its apparant that these tracks were recorded by the film crew, and NOT from the soundboard, it still a worthwhile collection. I especially like the runthrough of "Across the Universe" with heavi!er drums and guitar and harmony vocals by Paul. The disc gets a 6 out of 10 maily becaus the last few track are tried run throughs of older classics, and the band seems bored.

the sound quality is just not as sharp as you would expect it to be,i mean its not bad either, it does not have god save the queen, so how can it be the complete rooftop concert?

Just great to have the whole rooftop concert here (minus "God Save The Queen"), although I didn't get the chance of hearing other boots to compare the sound (is there really a tape around that was produced by George Martin ?). It is plainly great here, though you have some ups and downs in the volume control on the beginnings of the songs.
Great to have the complete "The Walk", I was tired to get the same bloody fifty-some seconds version on every bootleg I got !
There is just one thing I was wondering about: how come Yellow Dog always put out something out of pitch ?

I have compared this and Vigotone's 'As Nature Intended' and much to my surprise I actually perfer this release.I think the Vigotone release sounds a bit flat.I know Yellow Dog tweaked this one a bit but I think the results are excellent.I am sure there are many that would disagree with me on this and thats fine. This is a very enjoyable disc and my favorite release of the rooftop concert I have thus far heard.

Decent bootleg, but I've already heard the rooftop concert to death. They caught a few seconds of God Save the Queen after they changed reels. Why is that not on here?

I do enjoy the Maxwell's Silver hammer take, though, especially the ad-lib by Paul "in court again, Maxwell is a fort again". Cracks me up every time.
