Why is it so hard to believe that they did 'We Can Work It Out' live; it was their latest single, newly released, it was a great way to promote it then please those who bought it, and they'd done all their other hits live. As for no audio well there is little to no audio for most of the Beatles UK tours.
Also the argument "we've heard or seen no no audio/footage so it almost certainly didn't happen' is so badly flawed.

I think it is Yesterday being sung in that clip. Paul solo.

LR! Good to see you back! I was wondering where you had been. Still enjoying your 21+ collection. Do you have anything new in the pipeline for us?

A lot of people saw The Beatles in the 1965 UK tour, and they play 11 songs.
Is easy to tell if they played WCWIO or not.

The Beatles played the usual 11 songs of their final UK tour: I Feel Fine, She's A Woman, If I Needed Someone, Act Naturally, Nowhere Man, Baby's In Black, Help!, We Can Work It Out, Yesterday, Day Tripper and I'm Down

And the proof of that final UK set list is where? Mark Lewisohn is not an excuse, he has been wrong before. Never heard Yesterday ever with an organ. Until there is REAL audio that surfaces it's still heresay.

Its not just Lewisohn, other individuals relate memories of Paul playing 'Yesterday' on the organ in Martin Creasy's book 'Beatlemania, The Real Story of The Beatles UK Tours 1963 - 1965' eg Peter Martin recalling seeing the Beatles in Manchester
"I remember George playing his Epiphone Casino that night and the Vox Continental Organ on the right hand side of the stage that Paul used to accompany himself on 'Yesterday'. I dont remember the other Beatles joining him on that".
Another individual, nikh33, who attended the Liverpool Empire show posted over on the Steve Hoffman forum that the other Beatles were playing alongside Paul but in the background.

Quote:
I don't think it was an electric piano, he was more 'colouring' the song with washes of chords, kind of trying to sound like the string quartet I suppose. I think it was a VOX organ. He stood up and shook hands with John who sat and played the same organ on We Can Work it Out but not on I'm down, which they did with guitars.

Besides, this mini-tour must have been covered by the local press which was the source of information for Mark Lewisohn.

Yes, Lewisohn relies on documentation, not hearsay or questionable sources. No doubt, the tour was written about both in the music press (NME, Melody Maker) as well as the local newspapers in the cities the concerts visited. One or more of the reports on these concerts have had set lists, as well as provided information about which instruments were used.

No need for audio evidence. There's plenty of first-hand accounts.

Lewisohn used bootlegs and ended up with wrong information with a couple of his early books. Either way, I can pass on the info that the 1965 UK audio I did hear is fake so it can be erased then. Two unbootlegged 1965 live audio concerts were almost going to be auctioned. The set lists as I have said are identical to Shea, so I left the guy know he can erase them since people say they are fake if they do not have Yesterday or We Can Work It Out on them. I think the Shea Stadium rehearsal tape is getting submitted to the Ron Howard documentary for possible usage.

There were no rehearsals for the Shea Stadium concert.

Shea was 15 August 1965 and 23 August 1966.
December 1965 wouldn't be rehearsals ...

Yes, there were a few short bits of songs filmed, but only audio survives, backstage before Shea. The video only clip in the final film of Ringo looking bored and George playing guitar to Paul came from a longer source. Supposedly it has George and Paul talking about giving If I Needed Someone to the Hollies, which recorded their version around the same time as the Beatles did theirs, then has George and Paul running through guitar parts of Help, Ticket To Ride, She's A Woman while tuning guitars. I was definitely played like 40 distorted seconds of If I Needed someone, with George stopping and starting at parts as he played it to Paul. Either way, that'll most likely be all over the place in a year or two, cos that guy seemed itchy about sitting on it.

This is the brief clip featured in EDAW. The full video last about one and a half minutes.
