You look a little on the heavy side when you forget to wear your glasses. LOL, glasses of all things missing, eh?
But seriously, I do not have a clue why people ask why you did your discs this way or that way. If they want their discs differently done they can change them and tweak the artwork to reflect their changes. It's not like you are using every scrap of material or etching everything in stone of how it should be. All your work has been great and even for those who are not in full agreement of your song line-ups for any of the discs, you have all the work there and done. All they'd have to do is rearrange and adjusts a bit of artwork, if that's all it takes. Everyone has different views of what is the 'best of' or the 'greatest hits'. To me, Hits are whatever did commercially well, It might not be the greatest per se but it is 'hits'. 'Best of' is the one you can't please everyone with, because everyone is going to have a different view of what is the 'best' to them. I prefer more of the album tracks over most of the singles myself. I think some of the unreleased stuff is better than the stuff released. I think Paul surrounded himself with too many people that were filled with the idea 'everything Paul does is great', which in the end caused him to put some mediocre songs on albums that are near great but could be better.
You have that with everyone though. John on the other hand took gaps between some of his albums, well, of course, his 74 -75 era Walls And Bridges has its ups and downs within it that feel lagging, but hopefully my view is not so confusing.
Here's another aspect similar to the 'best of' concept. How many albums are there out there that you can listen to straight through without skipping a single song either out of boredom or out of irritation of a song? For me there's only like 4 or 5 albums like that, yet most of those albums are on my top 5 or 10 favorite albums to listen to. See now if you consider the artist and consider their songs in the same way as those albums, then look at what they pick for 'best of' albums, I mean, man! Is that what the person really thinks is 'best'? I mean, forget any other idiot you might be offending and really put out there what you think is your BEST, and if that isn't good enough, oh well, who cares? Life goes on.
Now I gotta go find my Spirit - Potatoland CD. If I don't get the fat jokes out of my system, my whale...wife will be decking me with a broomstick. Although that photo makes her not look so fat....Her subs are 44DD, can't tell what your pic is competing with. Then again if you photoshop the head of that fat boy leader from North Korea on that pic you could say you are a sumo wrester and it's all muscle while putting a finger in the belly button and making it wiggle like jello. When I write these things while half asleep I seem to babble in too many directions. NO ONE GET OFFENDED - I'm not insulting anyone in any way. Life is but a sitcom and I am just as sarcastic as sarcastic as sarcastic can be.

Thanks Dave for another great release, I'm really enjoying this series. Now that you're getting close to the end, I'm starting to wonder what life will be like without the anticipation of another Voo-Doo Ultimate Archive release.

The same as it was before, but later.

Thanks Dave for sharing your version of "Hot Hitz / Kold Kutz".
It's on my iPod now to check out this weekend.
I combined "Proud Mum" & "Proud Mum (Reprise)" into a single track and added it to the end of Disc 2 for my own listening pleasure.
It was originally planned to be part of "Cold Cuts" and there's certainly enough room to fit it on Disc 2......also it makes a nice ending to the disc.
:)

How about that toilet in the background. It looks like something from a dollhouse in this context.

Been listening to the Driving Rain discs. (Nice job Dave)

Regarding Partial to Your Abracadabra, do we know who plays on that? I mean I know it's the Blockheads, but does Paul play piano on it? Or did he just lend his voice to the track?

- “FLAMING PIE - ALBUM SAMPLER” [no label] CD-R
- on January 30th, 1997, Capitol executives in US received a 6-song sampler audio tape of songs for the next album, “Flaming Pie”, called “Paul McCartney - Album Sampler”, and containing: “The World Tonight” (it features variations in the level and placement of the guitars in the mix), “Young Boy” (it features a closing guitar chord not in the CV), “Somedays” (it contains an alternate vocal and variations in the Mellotron backing and placement of the instruments), “Used To Be Bad”, “Beautiful Night” (it is a rough mix which features the backing prior to the orchestral overdubs), “Flaming Pie”. Four of these songs had variations, compared to the CVs. Also a 3-song sampler of alternate takes of "The World Tonight", "Young Boy" and "Somedays" has been manufactured by Tower Mastering for Capitol Records on January 30th, 1997. It is estimated that only 30 copies were made of this tape, stereo:

Total Time 23’36”
“The World Tonight” (4’00”, variations in the level and placement of the guitars in the mix), “Young Boy” (3’52”, with a closing guitar chord not in the CV), “Somedays” (4’10”, with an alternate vocal and variations in the Mellotron backing and placement of the instruments), “I Used To Be Bad” (4’04”, with Steve Miller), “Beautiful Night” (5’02”, rough mix featuring the backing prior to the orchestral overdubs), “Flaming Pie” (2’26”).

Enjoy everybody

Not to sound ungrateful or anything, but are you sure this actually comes from that tape? I'm listening to it, and first off, the mix of Somedays sounds like the standard LP version and not the alternate mix I've heard elsewhere. Also, Young Boy lacks the chord and Beautiful Night has the orchestra overdubs. The artwork looks very promising, but the audio material doesn't live up to what was mentioned in the 'Eight Arms' book. Can anyone contact Chip to see what is going on here exactly? Thanks. :?

Pointed out from the original posting, this is actually a later sampler. The CD has a different date on it, March 24, 1997. Unless there are some trivially small differences, it seems this later sampler was prepared using the CVs.
